Warbird Consulting Partners is seeking an Interim NextGen Clinical SME (Subject Matter Expert)/Specialist for an exciting opportunity with one of our clients.  The implementation/redesign will be for 6-8 months at a major hospital/health system located in the Chicago, IL area.   Our client has requested this type of work for a specific project and has engaged Warbird to find the most qualified consultant for the project.

The Clinical Support Specialist plans, implements, maintains and provides technical support and training for the EMR related areas.  The Specialist must know NextGen to work with both the technical analyst and clinical teams.   NextGen is currently installed at the client site, however it is not being optimized to its fullest. 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Acquire and maintain complete knowledge of functional areas.
  • Optimize the operations within NextGen by assisting to standardize the workflows, process, then build the requirements into NexGen.
  • Participate in workflow process redesign efforts.
  • Accountable for clinician adaptation to and optimization of the documentation and ordering tools within the EHR and EDR applications.
  • Evaluate and analyze changes and new functionality for EHR and EDR applications utilizing change management documentation.
  • Develop and update documented process for EHR and EDR application downtime contingency.
  • Maintain knowledge of current technological developments/trends as related to duties.
  • Work with IT staff and Clinical Systems Administrator to analyze, plan, test, recommend and implement hardware and software directly related to electronic health systems.
  • Design and customize clinical templates, provider order sets, note titles, and GUI screen views, as appropriate.
  • Provide on-going system evaluation and maintenance to ensure optimal performance and utilization.
  • Maintain compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations, as they pertain to position including; HIPAA, Scope of Practice, Accreditation Standards, OSHA, and the Agency’s Policies & Procedures.

Job Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Required: Bachelor degree, RN strongly preferred/required (strong knowledge of clinical workflows and operations)
  • Two to three years’ experience in NextGen clinical training of electronic health records
  • Minimum 4 years experience in direct patient care (clinical, nursing, or allied health) or 2 years experience in clinical applications support in the healthcare industry or a degree in Medical Informatics.
  • NextGen EMR clinical experience
  1. Comprehensive understanding of clinical workflow and healthcare based information technology preferred.
  2. Ability to provide a range of systems training and support activities for end users of varying skill levels.
  3. Knowledge of Health Care Delivery System and HIPAA Security requirements preferred.
  4. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with peers and superiors, speak in front of groups and write policies, procedures, memorandums and training materials. Ability to operate and communicate effectively while under pressure is essential.
  5. Knowledge of computer maintenance, software support, cabling, security, hardware selection and installation preferred.

 

This opportunity is targeted for +6-8 months in length.   This is a Monday - Thursday travel role to a highly desirable location in the Chicago, IL area.  All applicants must be able to work on a W2 and authorized to work in the US for any employer.
